 Charley’s Comments

My thanks to Gary Ford and all the young men who participated in the worship service last Sunday.  I thought everyone was well prepared and did a wonderful job in leading our thoughts, prayers, and hearts in worship.  On behalf of the UCSC Alumni and Friends Association, I also thank all who dropped by the UCSC and enjoyed a good breakfast before the parade.  Your donations, which went to the Wayne Williams Scholarship fund, are greatly appreciated.

There is a sign-up list posted on the bulletin board just outside my office door at the church building for those who would like to help this year with the UCSC food drive for Need Line.  On Monday night, Oct. 27, between 6:00-8:00 p.m. we will come by your home and pick up any items that you are willing to donate to our food drive.  Please give us your name, address, and a phone number to call in case we get lost trying to find your house.  If you live too far out of Murray for us to find your home, you can bring your items to the church building on Sunday, Oct. 26. We’ll make sure they get delivered to Need Line.

Youth and Family News

This weekend we have a Family Trip planned to Lambert's Cafe in Sikeston, MO. If you are coming with us, bring a check or cash because they do not take credit cards.  We will meet at the building at 10 a.m. (upstairs) and take the church buses. We should return home between 3 and 4 p.m. depending on how much shopping gets done.

Saturday, October 25, is our Neewollah party for the youth at Walter and Patty Mehr's house beginning at 7:00 p.m.  We will play games and roast hot dogs.  This is a costume party for EVERYONE!  Choose a good costume as we will hand out awards for the best and most creative.

On Sunday, October 26, be prepared for our Trunk or Treat party at the back lot of the church building.  We will start upstairs with singing and a lesson at 6 p.m., then go downstairs for fun and games. Trunk or Treat starts at 7:00.  We are looking for the life groups to decorate their trunks. The competition was pretty fierce last year, so it will be interesting to see what happens this year!! I'm looking for people to help with the games and finger foods.  Please let me know if you can help.

On November 2 the Stan Colley week WKYC Reunion will be at Farmington Church of Christ.  If you attended WKYC this year, in the past or plan to attend, this is for you!  We will take a bus for everyone who wants to attend.

Celebration is November 7th - 9th!  Sign ups are closed and payment is due before we leave!  I'll have more info soon!

Have a blessed week!

Thank You

To the group, A.W.O.L. Jr.,

Thanks so much for the beautiful yard work. I was “sleeping in” that day and woke up to a buzzing sound. I looked out my window and it was a pleasant sight when I realized the kids (they were so cute) were working on my yard. I can now see out my window.

Thank you again,

LaRue Spann

Counselor Resigns . . .

We received an email informing us of the resignation of David Johnson as counselor for the Christian Counseling Center after fifteen years of service.  For a long time David has come to University Church one or two days a week to counsel with people from this area.  David has accepted a position in his hometown of Martin, TN as Program Director of Spirit Lake, an alcohol and drug treatment facility for men.  We have come to appreciate David as a counselor and as a Christian gentleman.  We will miss him.

David’s last day of work for the Christian Counseling Center will be November 19.  However, Roger Thompson, director of the center, indicated that every effort possible will be made to continue serving in Murray with other staff counselors until a replacement has been found.
