Charley’s
Campus Comments
A
spring clean-up day for the UCSC has been scheduled for Saturday, May 31
beginning at 8:00 in the morning. In
addition to the usual cleaning that needs to be done on the inside of the UCSC,
we have a number of additional projects that need attention this summer. These include:
1. Scrapping
and painting of the side
porch.
2. Mulching around all the landscaping
areas.
3. Hanging sheet rock in the basement
utility room.
4. Finishing the installation of ceiling
tiles in
basement.
5. Installing a couple of doors in the
basement.
6. Repairing front and side screen doors
of upper level.
7. Replacing broken bathroom window on
upper level.
8. Repair or replace a couple of cracked
vinyl siding pieces.
9. Finish trim work in the basement.
10. Repair leaking bathroom faucet.
As
you can see, we have a number of projects that need to be completed this
summer. If you have skills in any of the
areas listed above we could really use your help on the 31st. If you would like to take on any of the above
projects, please contact Charley prior to the 31st so we can
identify the items you will need in order to do the job.

Youth and Family News
We will
start Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with our annual Promotion
Ceremony. All classes will
meet in the auditorium.
Our
Senior Banquet will be this Sunday. After our a.m. services
everyone is invited to go downstairs and enjoy a potluck dinner followed by a
ceremony to honor the graduating class of 2008. Families of the graduates
are not expected to bring anything for the banquet. The graduates and their
families are encouraged to go through the line first. This Sunday is about honoring the graduates and their families. A few graduates have chosen not to participate
in the banquet, we give them all our best and hope that God blesses them in
their future.
Baskets
will be provided on the tables of the graduates for those who would like to
give the graduates cards or gifts.
Sunday
evening, UniversitYouth will conduct our services with Michael Wallin bringing
our devo. It will be his final service as a full fledged member of the
youth group.
Spring Retreat:
This week is the final week of sign- up for our trip to the Ocoee River.
We still need a couple of chaperones, and there are 8 spots for
youth. Children promoting to the seventh grade can participate in this trip
as well. The cost is $60 for the weekend plus enough money
for four meals. They will need to fill out a form for the rafting
company as well as a behavior contract for us.
Hope
to see you Sunday! Remember to bring plenty of food for our banquet.
Anyone that would like to help decorate, join us at 5 p.m. on Saturday
night. Refreshments provided.
God
Bless,
Roy

New Shepherding-Elder
Installed this Sunday
Our current elders
prayerfully studied and discussed the process for choosing and appointing
additional elders that was followed.
After receiving names of men recommended by the congregation, they
approached these men to discuss with them their ability and willingness to
serve in this important role in the congregation. Upon the completion of these interviews, the
name of Dan Davis was placed before the congregation for affirmation. Throughout this process the response of the
congregation has been very positive and encouraging.
Now, the entire
process will be brought to completion this Sunday morning. Near the end of our worship service, Dan will
join our current elders before the congregation. Along with prayer and scripture readings, Dan
will be given an opportunity to make his commitment to us as a church that he
is ready to serve to the best of his ability with God’s help. After our dismissal prayer, Dan and his wife,
Jan, will remain at the front of the auditorium. You are encouraged to go down front and greet
them. Because of the fellowship meal for
our graduates, we realize that some may not be able to do this; but we hope
many of you will offer your appreciation and encouragement to Dan and Jan.
The
church office will be closed
